I recently came across a special photo of me with two of the incredible Hound Rescue board members, Kim and Cindy. This picture captures a meaningful day — the day they asked me to join them in serving on the board of Hound Rescue. It was a moment that filled me with excitement and gratitude, knowing I would be working alongside such passionate and dedicated people to make a difference in the lives of countless dogs.

While Shannon and Hyden are missing from the photo, they were very much a part of that day in spirit. Together, these wonderful people have created a team that is beautiful inside and out, united by a shared love for our hounds and a deep commitment to our mission.

Joining the board felt like a natural extension of my work with Hound House Coffee, where our mission has always been about more than just coffee — it’s about community, compassion, and giving back. I am so grateful to be part of this amazing group and to work alongside such inspiring people every day.

As we celebrate our first year, we're excited to introduce you to the pups behind our beloved blends: Jax, Suzi, Charlie, and Poppy. Each of their unique stories has shaped the flavors and spirit of our coffee in special ways.

Jax – The Bold Italian Jaxpresso
Jax, our "Italian Jaxpresso," is the darkest roast in our lineup, much like his strong and adventurous spirit. Found on the streets of South Texas, Jax quickly showed us that he’s a survivor with a lot of heart. His mix of Basset Hound, Chihuahua, and Poodle brings a quirky charm that’s impossible to resist. Inspired by Jax’s tenacity and courage, our Italian Jaxpresso is a rich and bold roast with deep, complex flavors that stand out, just like Jax himself.

Suzi – The Spirited Suzi's Sunrise Blend
Suzi's journey began with a rocky start. Unwanted and dumped on the streets as a 3-month-old puppy, she was later surrendered by her finder at around 6 months old. Suzi has always been a bit of a "crazy girl" — once even jumping out of a moving car! I’ll admit, she’s a handful, but that’s what makes her so special. With her typical loud beagle bark and a sensitive side that melts our hearts, Suzi is full of life and personality. Her bright and spirited nature inspired Suzi's Sunrise Blend, a breakfast coffee that’s as lively and energetic as she is. We wouldn’t change a hair on her head!

Charlie – The Heartwarming (and Hungry) Charlie's Java Jive
Charlie has a story as unique as his personality. Rescued as a stray in South Texas, he quickly turned into a mama’s boy who rarely leaves our side — unless the door is open. Then, he’s off in a heartbeat, loving his independence. Charlie’s quirky mix of neediness and independence makes him one-of-a-kind, and he would literally do anything for a crumb! Inspired by his handsome good looks, Charlie's Java Jive is a medium-dark roast with subtle cocoa and caramel undertones, perfect for moments when you want a perfect cup of coffee that is our bestseller.

Poppy – The Irresistible Poppy's Perfect Blend
Poppy, known affectionately as "Poppy Soft Paws," was supposed to be just a foster, but I knew she was mine before she even arrived at our house. As an owner surrender, Poppy brought a calm demeanor that hid her playful spirit, always ready for a belly rub and soft as a bunny. Her gentle sweetness inspired Poppy's Perfect Blend, a dark roast espresso that combines a meticulous fusion of beans from around the world.
